And I thought last week was a long week....well, it pales in comparison to how we are feeling right now. It's been a terribly long 24 hours, but we are here safe and sound. Madeleine was an absolute trooper on the 14 hour flight- however she decided it would be fun NOT to sleep at all until 30 minutes before our final descent- yeah, that was a lot of fun. So it was like carrying dead weight along with all of our luggage once we landed and found our guide because she simply was not going to walk and apparently only Mommy's arms would do.
Memere is a blessing- she is holding her own and already is soaking in the art and architecture that we have seen just on route to the hotel. I think she too will sleep well tonight.
We had a 30 minute drive to our hotel in Beijing and we are settling into the room.
It is 7pm local time and we have not slept since yesterday morning- needless to say we are exhausted. The plan is to keep Madeleine up for another hour or so and then try to get everyone to sleep and be ready for our day tomorrow which begins at 9am.
We were thrilled to see Jason, our guide from 2004 who surprisingly recognized us right away. And we also have a lovely guide named Jane who will join us tomorrow. The agenda begins at 9am and we are headed to The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, local city sightseeing and Tiennemin Square all in a day and we'll cap off the night with an acrobatics show.
3 days until we meet Audrey....
Our love to you from across the miles!
